The UK's Definitive Festival for New Music
The 2026 edition of The Great Escape took place from 13 to 16 May 2026 across Brighton & Hove. Celebrated across the global music business as the premier international festival for new music, the four-day event showcased over 450 emerging bands and solo acts across more than 35 independent, walkable venues throughout the city.
Since its founding in 2006, The Great Escape has served as a launchpad for world-renowned artists, including Adele, Stormzy, The 1975, and Arlo Parks. Concurrently, the TGE Music Conference convened senior label executives, booking agents, artist managers, and sync supervisors for keynote debates and networking.
How It Ran: 2026 Showcase Footprint
Wristband holders navigated between historic Brighton institutions, from club venues in North Laine (Komedia, Chalk, Hope & Ruin) to intimate pub rooms in The Lanes, pop-up beach stages along the seafront, and the conference hub at the Leonardo Royal Hotel.
A Microcosm of Brighton's Creative Economy
The Great Escape is instrumental to Brighton's position as a national music and audio-tech capital. For creative directors, digital media producers, and venture investors in the Brighton BGTC Society, the festival offers an unparalleled window into emerging talent, digital music distribution trends, and sonic experimentation.
Looking Ahead: The Great Escape 2027
